About Rachael
Nurturing and supportive touch has always played an important role in my life and without it I’m sure I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have.
I first discovered Holistic Massage Therapy when searching for a way to relax and unwind along with improving my general health and well-being. It wasn’t long before I became a believer in its strong therapeutic powers and understood that making a move to work within this field was a natural progression for me.
My career in health and well-being began in 1999 when I started training as a nurse.
The importance of touch in the therapeutic role began to bubble to the surface of my mind. Used mainly in the form of a reassuring hold of a hand or a support on someone’s shoulder.
After qualifying as a nurse in 2002 I worked for a short time at the Leeds General Infirmary before moving to Sheffield and specialising in the area of Neurology where I worked as a specialist nurse in research at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
I find working as a practitioner relaxing and rewarding and I enjoy seeing the benefits that the therapy has on my clients. Helping people with chronic or acute areas of tension, stress related problems or just a need to feel pampered and relaxed.
Holistic massage therapy brings out my creative side and I enjoy being able to react to my clients ever changing needs.
I carried out my Holistic Massage Therapy training at the prestigious and well renowned Sheffield Centre for Massage Training with principal Vicky Gaughan. This course opened my eyes to an improved quality of life through massage and gave me a diverse range of tools to keep in my massage toolbox.
The course is affiliated with the Massage Training Institute of which I am a member. And has ensured my inclusion on the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council register.
Since completing my diploma I continue to feel inspired to learn and grow as a practitioner and ensure this by attending CPD courses run by professionals with many years of experience.
Most recently I have completed further training with Dror Steiner in advanced massage techniques, developed skills in rhythm mobility with Darien Pritchard and learnt new pregnancy massage skills with Well Mother founder Suzanne Yates.
